Through the lens of Gus & Clara

Gus Corujo has held a lifelong passion for aviation and has enjoyed photography since childhood. In 2006, he moved from a point‑and‑shoot film camera to a digital DSLR, marking the start of his journey into aviation photography. Inspired to capture the beauty and excitement of flight, Gus began attending aviation gatherings with his camera in hand. Today, he and his wife, Clara, are known as GUSAIR, a dedicated photography team based in Southern Ontario.

They enjoy being part of aviation events of all kinds, from organized programs to small community gatherings. For them, photographing these moments is a way to inspire future aviators and to celebrate the people whose dedication makes each occasion possible. Their work highlights not only the aircraft, but also the people whose passion and involvement make these events possible, celebrating both as essential to the success and spirit of each gathering.

Gus has a special admiration for vintage aircraft and a deep appreciation for general aviation. Over the years, he and Clara have supported and documented many local initiatives, including COPA for Kids, Girls Take Flight, Girls Can Fly, Girls in Aviation Day, Women Take Flight, Discover Aviation Day, the Northern Lights Aero Foundation Elsie MacGill Awards Gala, the charity event Dreams Take Flight Toronto, and numerous grassroots fly‑ins. Along the way, they have connected with inspiring individuals and respected organizations such as the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, Waterloo Warbirds, Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre, Brampton Flight Centre, and many others that contribute to the aviation world in meaningful ways. Their work reflects a belief that the heart of aviation lives in the people and places that quietly shape its future, from the past to the new, to preserve what has been built and to continue to grow a vibrant and thriving community.

Their photography has been featured in magazines, calendars, and books, and they have been invited to cover a variety of aviation events. Each opportunity has deepened their passion for the craft and strengthened their ties to the community they value so highly.

Beyond aviation, Gus and Clara share an interest in wildlife, macro, and portrait photography. Whether capturing the fine detail of nature, the character in a portrait, or the timeless lines of a vintage aircraft, they approach every subject with curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love for the art of photography.
