Brampton Flight Centre – Women Take Flight

On Sunday, May 26th, the inspiring Women Take Flight event took place at Brampton Flight Centre (BFC). This initiative was designed to encourage and empower women to explore careers in aviation, aiming to break down barriers and foster diversity within the industry. It was a day filled with excitement, learning, and inspiration, providing women with the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of flight firsthand.

Despite starting with a low ceiling, the skies eventually cleared, allowing the free flights to commence later in the morning. Enthusiastic participants, along with their families, arrived early, eager to take part in the event. With over 200 registered participants, the day was bustling with activity, and everyone had the chance to take to the skies. The smiles and excitement upon their return were a testament to the success of the day.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to hear from distinguished guest speakers. Jaime McDonald, First Officer at WestJet, Victoria Szewczyk, Training Captain for Boeing 767/757, and Heather Hills, First Officer at Porter Airlines, shared their personal experiences and insights into the aviation industry. Their stories and willingness to engage with questions from the audience provided invaluable inspiration and guidance to those considering a future in aviation.

We extend our sincere thanks to Brampton Flight Centre and all the dedicated volunteers who made this event possible.
