On August 10th, the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation (ECAF) hosted its 33rd annual Gathering of the Classics.
The Gathering of the Classics is considered one of Canada’s largest and longest-running collections of aircraft and vintage cars. This year’s event did not disappoint the large number of visitors and participants.
From vintage and classic aircraft to modern flying machines, a wide array of aviation marvels were on display alongside hundreds of classic cars, motorcycles, and military vehicles. The Avro Arrow full-size replica and the Arrow Museum were open to the public, showcasing an extensive collection of historical artifacts.
The event was highlighted by the presence of the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, featuring two of their Second World War trainers, Ulf Hermansson’s North American T28A, Jeff Lewis’s Mitsubishi MU-2B-60, and the Great War Flying Museum’s Fokker Dr.I.
Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy aircraft and helicopter flights, a variety of food vendors, and numerous stalls offering interesting items for purchase. There was also a kids’ play station and much more, making this event a fantastic family gathering.
The Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation brings together people who share an interest in the aircraft of yesteryear, which played a significant role in Canadian aviation history. The ECAF works tirelessly to keep aviation history alive. Its volunteer members maintain a library devoted to the history of aviation and assist with the construction, repair, restoration, maintenance, and preservation of aircraft.
