On Sunday, August 25th, the RAA Oshawa District Recreational Aircraft Association, in collaboration with COPA Flight 70, proudly presented the 28th Annual Barnyard Fly-In. This year’s event marked another successful gathering of Oshawa area pilots, aviation enthusiasts, and the community.
The event was a wonderful showcase of aviation passion, featuring a remarkable variety of aircraft. Attendees were treated to the sight of historic warbirds, certified planes, nimble ultralights, helicopter, and skillfully crafted amateur builds.
One of the highlights of the day was the much-anticipated raffle, where the lucky winner enjoyed a thrilling ride in the host Hannu Halminen’s iconic North American P-51 Mustang. Piloted by Halminen himself, the Mustang roared to life, offering the winner an unforgettable experience high above the beautiful countryside.
Adding to the day’s charm was the significant increase in classic vehicles participating in the event. These vintage beauties, lined up beside the aircraft, provided a nostalgic backdrop and attracted the admiration of both young and old alike.
The Hawkefield Barnyard Fly-In remains a cherished tradition, uniting the aviation community in celebration of their shared passion for flight. Here’s to many more memorable fly-ins to come.
