Stanhope and Community Fall Colours Fly-in/Drive-in

On Saturday, September 28, residents of Haliburton County and beyond gathered to participate in this year’s Stanhope and Community Fall Colours Fly-in/Drive-in. This annual event, organized by the Stanhope Municipal Airport Advisory Committee, provided a delightful experience for families and aviation enthusiasts alike.

The event showcased a remarkable collection of classic automobiles and aircraft, drawing the attention of both local residents and visitors. This year’s fly-in introduced several new attractions, including a beer garden sponsored by Haliburton Highlands Brewing and an aviation career opportunities booth, which offered valuable information for those interested in pursuing a career in aviation.

As in previous years, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was present, alongside emergency services and the local fire department, to engage with the community and provide demonstrations.

Attendees had the opportunity to purchase a variety of delicious foods from local restaurants, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the event was the chance to experience the breathtaking fall colours of the Haliburton Highlands from above. For a fee, attendees could take a scenic flight in either a helicopter or an aircraft, offering a unique perspective of the stunning autumn landscape.

The Stanhope and Community Fall Colours Fly-in/Drive-in continues to be a cherished tradition, bringing together the community to celebrate the beauty of the season and the joy of aviation.
