Family Day Weekend at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum was a blast! Despite Sunday’s cancellation due to weather, the event on February 15 and 17 was packed with fun, learning, and excitement for visitors of all ages.
One of the standout features was the Earth in Focus exhibit, which showcased the benefits of observing our planet from space. Through breathtaking astronaut photography and satellite imagery, visitors gained insight into how space technology helps monitor climate change and predict extreme weather. If you missed it during Family Day Weekend, don’t worry – Earth in Focus will be available at CWHM until April 27!
Another stellar experience was the Astronomy in Action planetarium show. Visitors were treated to a dazzling 360-degree journey through the solar system in The Planets, featuring stunning visuals and fascinating discoveries about the worlds beyond Earth.
A major highlight of the weekend was the chance to meet Canadian astronaut Dr. Dave Williams on Saturday, February 15, at 1 p.m. His appearance made the event even more memorable, as visitors had the unique opportunity to chat with him, take photos, and collect autographs. Shortly after, Dr. Williams joined a live virtual presentation featuring Canadian Space Agency astronaut Colonel Jeremy Hansen. Colonel Hansen captivated the audience with a stunning photo slideshow, sharing incredible insights about space exploration. To wrap up the session, both astronauts answered questions from the audience, making for an inspiring and interactive experience.
With engaging exhibits, incredible space exploration stories, and the rare opportunity to meet real astronauts, Family Day Weekend at CWHM was truly out of this world!
