As the weather warms and winter fades, a familiar tradition returns to the Guelph Airpark. Every Thursday, weather permitting, aviation enthusiasts gather for the weekly BBQs, a highlight of the season. The event starts around 4 PM and is open to everyone. Whether flying in or driving in, visitors come together to share their love of aviation, reconnect with friends and enjoy great food.
The BBQs are organized by Tim Eckensviller who continues the tradition with care and dedication. In past years his late father Terry often handled the BBQ with help from his family. Terry was a warm welcoming and friendly gentleman who made everyone feel at home. Since his passing in February his presence has been deeply missed by all who knew him.
On May 15 the weather was just right with mild temperatures and a calm evening breeze. Although the turnout was small the sense of community and friendship remained strong. People caught up, shared stories and enjoyed fresh food off the grill. A few aircraft took to the sky making smooth passes until the sun set. As always it was a special evening.
For those who love aviation the Guelph Airpark BBQs offer more than just food and airplanes. They bring people together to laugh, connect and celebrate a shared passion that keeps this tradition going strong.
