On Saturday, May 31, aviation enthusiasts, families, and visitors gathered at Grand River Executive Airport for the much-anticipated Summer Fly-In. Despite the overcast skies and strong winds that made the day feel more like late fall, the event drew a lively crowd eager to experience the thrill of aviation and more.
Local aircraft were on display, giving attendees a closer look at the fascinating world of aviation. While the strong winds limited the number of visitor aircraft flying in, they did not stop people from taking plane rides, which were provided by Near North Aviation. With no pre-flight booking required, visitors simply paid for a ride and enjoyed a scenic view from above.
By midday, the event was in full swing, with more visitors arriving despite the chilly weather. The Fly-In featured not only aircraft but also cars and motorcycles on display, adding to the excitement. Live music created a welcoming atmosphere, making it a great weekend outing for families and friends.
Although some of the visitor aircraft, cars, and motorcycles arrived later in the day, photos shared by attendees on social media captured the moments we missed. The Summer Fly-In was a memorable event, offering aviation lovers and families an enjoyable way to spend a weekend.
For those who couldn’t make it, this is definitely one to watch for next time.
