On Saturday, July 19, Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport had some added excitement in the afternoon as the SkyHawks, Canada’s military parachute team, carried out a low-key jump. It wasn’t part of a scheduled public show.
Before takeoff, the SkyHawks were seen getting their gear ready while waiting for a Canadian Forces CH-147F Chinook helicopter, which brought them to jumping altitude. Locals at the airport looked on as the helicopter arrived, adding to the interest of the moment.
The jump took place before 4 PM and kept things simple and relaxed. The team used their well-known Canadian flag parachutes, and those nearby had a clear view as the SkyHawks floated down and landed smoothly on the grass.
The SkyHawks team were warm and welcoming, and their presence added a positive energy that made the afternoon feel even more enjoyable. After wrapping up at the airport, the team continued on to Lindsay for their evening jump at the North Of Nowhere Music Festival.
