Roger Deming’s Annual Fly-In 2025

Saturday, August 30 turned out to be a perfect day for the annual Roger Deming’s Fly-In at Damascus Field (CDF6). With clear skies and a comfortable breeze, the setting was ideal for aircraft arrivals, friendly conversations and community connection.

As always, we arrived early in the morning, well before the official start time of 10 AM. Roger greeted us with his usual warmth, then quickly got to work setting up for the day with help from Neneng and Paula. Their energy and teamwork set a welcoming tone that carried through the entire event.

More than 20 aircraft flew in, bringing familiar faces and a few first-time visitors. The first arrival, from Waterloo, touched down at 9:20 AM. Alongside the fly-ins, many families drove in to join the fun, just like they do every year. We enjoyed catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones, talking and laughing together under the clear sky.

There was no better backdrop for capturing the aircraft than the soft green landscape that stretched across the field. Visitors had the chance to walk around and admire the planes up close, while pilots enjoyed reconnecting with fellow flyers and aviation enthusiasts. It was a relaxing and friendly day for everyone who came out.

Roger, as always, was a generous host. Coffee and pastries were ready for early arrivals, and lunch featured classic favourites like hamburgers, hotdogs and cold drinks. Kids couldn’t resist the chips and freezies, and KWRAA members brought a variety of desserts that everyone enjoyed.

We’re so thankful to Roger for creating such a warm and generous experience. His love for the aviation community was clear in every part of the day, and it was something special to see how happy he was as the aircraft flew in and visitors joined the fun. It’s a day we always look forward to and one we’ll remember fondly.
