A Visit to Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport (CNF4)

It was a bright late-summer afternoon when we drove down to Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport (CNF4) to meet friends for lunch. After a great meal and catching up with familiar faces, we decided to stay for the weekly classic car show. The golden hour light made for perfect photo opportunities, and we had an awesome time.

CNF4 is a lovely airport tucked away from the busy city. It’s a great spot for aviators who enjoy a scenic flight, a good breakfast, and spending a few hours with friendly locals. The airport welcomes organized fly-in groups with advance arrangements through the airport manager, Craig Logan.

Whether you fly in or drive in, CNF4 is a great place to relax and enjoy the day. Members of the Kawartha Lakes Flying Club (KLFC) often gather at the airport restaurant for a drink or bite to eat while catching up on aviation conversations. Every time we visit, we’re greeted by familiar faces and end up staying for hours, enjoying great company on the patio while watching aircraft take off and land.

If you enjoy classic cars, Wednesdays are a treat. Starting around 4 PM, the Kawartha Classic Kruisers roll in for their weekly car show. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with oldies music playing and a great mix of people. While the airport restaurant closes at 3 PM, food vendors set up during the car show offering peameal bacon, sausages, hot dogs, drinks, and even ice cream.

Craig Logan, who also serves as President of the KLFC, is a grounded, approachable, and hard-working individual who truly cares about the community. Thanks to his support, the Kawartha Classic Kruisers have a home at the airport every Wednesday throughout the summer and into the fall.

CNF4 is more than just a place to land. It’s a place to connect, relax, and enjoy the best of aviation and community spirit.
