Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association’s Wings & Wheels Family Fun Day

On Saturday, September 13, the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association (CHAA) welcomed thousands to the Tillsonburg Regional Airport for its annual Wings & Wheels Family Fun Day. From 9 AM to 4 PM, the grounds buzzed with excitement as aviation and automotive enthusiasts gathered for a full day of community celebration.

With admission by cash donation, the event drew an impressive crowd of over 4,000 attendees. Visitors arrived by air and by road, bringing with them a stunning collection of 543 registered show vehicles, plus more than 100 additional classics that joined the fun. The variety of aircraft and vehicles on display made for a vibrant and engaging experience for all ages.

One of the standout attractions was the Harvard Experience, with 38 riders taking to the skies in CHAA’s iconic aircraft. Classic car owners were also entered into a draw for a chance to win a Harvard flight, adding a touch of excitement to the show-and-shine.

Families enjoyed a lively kids’ zone, explored historical exhibits, and browsed through a fundraising garage sale and book sale. CHAA merchandise was available for purchase, and food trucks kept everyone well-fed and smiling throughout the day.

A special highlight came with the arrival of the North American P-51D Mustang from Timmermans Legends of Flight in Chatham. Piloted by Mackenzie Cline and flown in with aircraft owner Peter Timmermans, the Mustang added a powerful presence to the lineup of visiting aircraft.

The event truly reflected the strength of the local community, with support from the Tillsonburg Cruisers, the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg, and the team at Tillsonburg Regional Airport helping to make the day run smoothly and feel welcoming for all. The day brought plenty of joy, meaningful moments, and a genuine sense of togetherness.

Our sincere thanks go to the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, all participants and attendees, and every volunteer who helped make the day so special. It was a true reflection of what can happen when people come together with passion, generosity, and a shared love for community.
