On Saturday, October 4, we had the pleasure of attending a fly-in at a private airfield. This annual autumn gathering brought together aviation friends for a day of connection, conversation, and countryside charm. Despite the season, the weather felt more like midsummer, with temperatures reaching 31°C under a bright, sunny sky.
Guests began arriving shortly after 9 am by both aircraft and car. The field quickly filled with familiar faces, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Friends caught up while watching aircraft arrive and depart, sharing stories and laughter in the warm October sun.
The airfield itself is a peaceful gem tucked into quiet farmland. Surrounded by open fields and rural roads, the turf runway blends naturally into the landscape, offering a calm and scenic setting for recreational flying. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and the joy of flight takes centre stage.
A generous lunch was provided by the thoughtful property owner, with plenty of food and drink to keep everyone well-fed and refreshed throughout the day. One of the highlights was a relaxed hayride through the surrounding fields, giving guests a chance to soak up the sunshine and take in the beautiful countryside views.
It was a memorable day filled with good company, great flying, and the kind of moments that remind us why we love this community.
Special thanks to the property owner for their generosity and hospitality. We were honoured to be invited and truly appreciated the warm welcome.
