Waterloo Warbirds Open House

The Waterloo Warbirds Open House returned this November with a welcoming atmosphere and a thoughtful touch of seasonal charm. Held at Hangar 33 at the Waterloo Region International Airport, the event offered a relaxed opportunity for families, aviation fans, and curious visitors to connect and explore.

From 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 1, guests enjoyed a lively mix of aircraft displays and Halloween-themed fun. Featured aircraft included the T-33 Mako Shark, L-29 Delfin, the Harvard Mk. II B, a beautifully preserved de Havilland Tiger Moth, and the Velis electric plane showcased by the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre. Visitors had the chance to speak with Waterloo Warbirds pilots and learn more about flight training at the WWFC booth.

Some guests arrived in costume and were greeted with a sweet surprise at the door. The Halloween touches added a playful note, especially for younger visitors who lit up at the sight of the aircraft and the buzz of planes taking off and landing nearby.

Inside the hangar, the Waterloo Warbirds proudly displayed the fuselage of their second T-33, currently undergoing restoration. Guests were invited to help shape its future look by voting on potential liveries, with printed designs available for review and feedback.

The merchandise booth was also a hit, offering aviation-themed gifts and gear to help kick off the holiday shopping season in style.

It was a pleasant day filled with curiosity, conversation, and shared appreciation for aviation. The Waterloo Warbirds Open House continues to be a meaningful way to bring the community together and celebrate the season with something special.
