HeritageCon 18 brought a full day of excitement to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum on Sunday, March 29. The event has become one of the most anticipated gatherings for plastic scale modellers in Canada, and this year’s turnout showed how much the community looks forward to it. Visitors began lining up well before opening time, and once the doors opened, the museum quickly filled with families, hobbyists, collectors, and aviation fans ready to enjoy the day.
More than one hundred contestants took part, bringing over nine hundred entries. The tables were filled with aircraft, armour, ships, figures, cars, and creative builds that showed a wide range of skill. Visitors moved through the aisles, taking in the details and chatting with builders. The contest area stayed busy until judging began, and when the results were posted later in the day, guests returned to celebrate the winners and enjoy the displays once more.
The vendor area was just as lively. Every table was filled, offering visitors a wide selection of model kits, from new releases to classic favourites and rare finds. Vendors also brought tools, decals, books, and supplies that kept people browsing throughout the day. Many guests left with bags full of future projects and fresh ideas, adding to the cheerful atmosphere that makes HeritageCon such a favourite in the modelling community.
What truly stood out throughout the day was the sense of community. HeritageCon brings together people of all ages who share a love of building, learning, and connecting with others. The setting inside the museum, surrounded by historic Canadian aircraft, made the event feel even more special.
A sincere thank you goes to the organizers from IPMS Hamilton, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, the volunteers, the vendors, the contestants, and every guest who joined us. HeritageCon 18 was a wonderful success because of the time, care, and enthusiasm that each person brought to the day. It was a true celebration of creativity and community, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.
