5th Annual North Port Fly‑In

The 5th Annual North Port Fly‑In took place on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16 at North Port‑Seagrave Airport, bringing together aviation enthusiasts, families and visitors from near and far. Organized by COPA Flight 70 Durham Region and hosted by Northport Aviation, the weekend offered a relaxed country atmosphere with aircraft arrivals, live entertainment and a friendly community spirit from the moment the gates opened at 9 am each morning.

A wide variety of aircraft visited throughout the weekend, giving visitors plenty to see and enjoy. One of Saturday’s highlights was the vintage open‑cockpit Tiger Moth, which offered paid rides through the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation. Passengers had a rare opportunity to take to the skies in a true piece of aviation history.

Flight line tours gave guests a closer look at the aircraft that flew in and parked on the field, with a tour guide safely leading visitors along the line. Classic cars added even more interest to the event, while a bouncy castle kept younger guests entertained throughout the weekend.

Saturday featured live music by The Rhythm ReVue, with high‑energy country, pop and rock filling the airport throughout the afternoon and evening. Hot Diggity Dog served breakfast and lunch, and Saturday evening brought everyone together for dinner and a free corn roast as the sun began to set. Guests relaxed with good food, music and the small‑town atmosphere.

Sunday included a Transport Canada safety seminar for pilots, providing useful guidance and an opportunity for members of the aviation community to connect.

Another memorable moment came on Saturday when a DC‑3 Basler conversion made a surprise practice approach and overshoot. Although it was not part of the planned programme, everyone on the field paused to watch the aircraft sweep by. It was an unexpected treat that became a favourite moment for many.

The Fly‑In offered a great mix of aviation, entertainment and family‑friendly activities, with plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages. Beautiful weather, friendly faces and a relaxed atmosphere made it an enjoyable weekend for everyone who came out.

Our sincere thanks go out to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors and everyone who came out to support the event. Their time, effort and support helped make the Fly‑In a welcoming and enjoyable gathering for the whole community.
