Roger Deming’s Annual Fly-In 2026

Saturday, September 5 turned out to be a perfect day for the annual Roger Deming’s Fly-In at Damascus Field (CDF6). Sunshine, light winds and a steady stream of arriving aircraft made for a relaxed and enjoyable morning filled with airplanes, conversations and community spirit. Sponsored and promoted by the Kitchener-Waterloo RAA chapter, this long-running fly-in has become one of their most popular end-of-summer gatherings.

The first aircraft arrived at 9:40 am, a RANS S‑7S Courier, and the sounds of aircraft continued throughout the morning as more visitors flew in one after another. Along with the regulars, several aviators were attending for the first time. In total, 22 visiting aircraft came in for the day, bringing together a wonderful mix of vintage and classic aircraft, warbirds and more contemporary types. The steady arrivals created a lively atmosphere around the field, with plenty of opportunities for pilots and visitors to chat, take photos and admire the variety of aircraft.

It was great to see so many familiar faces gathered together, catching up and sharing stories. Families and visitors also drove in to enjoy the day, adding to the friendly and welcoming feel of the event.

Roger and his family always put a great deal of care into hosting this fly-in. The field was freshly prepared, and early arrivals were greeted with hot coffee and sweet treats. By mid-morning, the barbecue was underway with juicy hamburgers and sausages for lunch, and there was plenty of food and drink for everyone. Later in the afternoon, visitors were treated to ice cream, adding a fun and relaxed touch to the day. Their warm hospitality is a big part of what makes this fly-in so enjoyable and keeps people coming back year after year.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Roger, Neneng, Tanya, Paula, the KWRAA and everyone who came out to support the event. This year’s fly-in was another great success, with good weather, great aircraft and, most importantly, wonderful people coming together.

We are already looking forward to next year.
