On Sunday, September 20, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum welcomed car lovers, aviation enthusiasts and families for another fun-filled Vintage Wheels & Wings event.

The day began under cloudy skies, but the weather soon shifted. Sunshine and bright blue skies arrived by late morning, bringing comfortable temperatures that made it a perfect day to enjoy an outdoor gathering.

Classic vehicles started arriving around 8 am, and the ramp filled quickly. Pre-registration had sold out well ahead of time, with more than 300 vehicles built in 2006 or earlier taking part. The display featured a great mix of returning favourites and first-time participants, giving visitors plenty to explore as they walked through the rows of vintage wheels. Owners enjoyed catching up with fellow enthusiasts, sharing stories about their vehicles and welcoming guests who stopped by for a closer look. From one end of the ramp to the other, there was always something interesting to discover.

Seeing classic vehicles displayed alongside the Museum’s historic aircraft is a big part of what makes Vintage Wheels & Wings so special. The mix of vintage wheels and vintage wings creates a setting you do not find anywhere else.

Pre-registered vehicle owners also had the chance to take part in a special photo experience by making a minimum $10 cash donation to support the Museum. The Museum’s photographers captured each participating vehicle with both the Chipmunk and the Canadair CT‑114 Tutor, giving owners a memorable keepsake with a distinctly Canadian aviation touch.

Inside the Museum, visitors explored the aircraft collection, spoke with pilots and tour guides, stepped inside selected cockpits, and enjoyed interactive experiences such as the Fly Zone motion simulator and life-sized AI veteran avatars.

Whether you came for the classic cars, the aircraft or simply a fun day out with family and friends, Vintage Wheels & Wings offered a full day of sights, conversations and memorable moments. With beautiful weather, hundreds of classic vehicles, historic aircraft and plenty of friendly faces, it was a wonderful way to bring the summer season to a close.
